What happens at the first meeting?

You explain the situation, we ask questions, and you leave knowing where you stand, what the realistic options are and what each would cost. No outcome can be promised at that stage, and you should be wary of anyone who promises one.

How long will my matter take?

That depends on the type of matter, the other side, and the court’s calendar, none of which we control. We give you an honest expected range at the outset and tell you promptly when it changes.

Will I be dealing with you or an assistant?

Both, and you will know who does what. Paralegals handle a great deal well and more affordably, but an attorney is responsible for your matter and you will speak to one.

Do you handle matters in my county?

Ask when you call. We will tell you plainly where we practise regularly and refer you on where another firm is genuinely better placed.

What should I bring?

Anything in writing that relates to the matter: agreements, correspondence, filings, photographs, and dates you can remember. Bring too much rather than too little.
